Goodfest What are you going to do before you die? Think big but make the next hour matter
Workshop information
The stories we believe in shape the world we live in. But the old story we have lived with for a long time is destroying our systems. It is a story of ‘maximisation’ ‘consumption’ ’separation’ and ‘control’ – of seeing the world as a resource to excavate and manipulate. But this old story and worldview of ‘control’ seems increasingly unfit for these exceptional times.
Perhaps our greatest achievement would be to rekindle a worldview of belonging, a new story, inspired by nature?
Because nature doesn’t work this way. Nature works through optimisation over maximisation. Nature works through networks of relationships. Rather than linear consumption, Nature works through cycles, reciprocity and exchange. Far from disconnected, all aspects of nature are interconnected.
We’ll use the workshop space to navigate the transition to a new story, taking several frames to help place our action in a bigger story, one of transformation and healing, both at personal and planetary level. We’ll also respond to key prompts, for example ‘What are you going to do before you die? What does this moment look like for you? Where do we place ourselves to be useful? What helps you navigate?
About Erica Neve and Jamie Pyke
At the Bio-Leadership Project, we believe that by the next decade, a culture of leadership capable of regenerating and protecting our Earth systems must be at the centre of all sectors of society. The Bio-Leadership Project is a group of people and organisations in a collaborative global mission to protect and regenerate the planet through systemic change interventions. Nature connection, activism and a learning culture are the core principles we apply to help shift human progress. We run a fellowship, a business consultancy and systems-thinking labs.
