Goodfest Ben Akers

South Londoner Ben, is a Film Maker/Problem Solver/Mental Health Campaigner and the Co CEO of a charity he didn’t mean to start.

He began his career as an advertising copywriter and grew to a multi award winning Creative Director at some of the world’s most creative ad agencies in London and Sydney, picking up over 70 national and International awards in his 20 years.

But in 2014 his life was turned upside down with the suicide of his childhood of his best friend Steve Yates. After years of trying to come to terms with this tragedy he decided to use his evil powers for good and try to stop the next Steve.

So he created a the changementary “Steve” that takes a positive look at male mental health, and tries to help men help themselves. From the Talking and listening charity Talk Club was formed which currently has over 2500 male members and 65 global clubs.

He is currently embarking on his next film project OurKidsOurLives – to try to help the mental health of kids.

Ben lives in Bristol with his wife and 3 kids.
